Lezioni di disegno: lo schizzo

Hi guys, I’m Carla, I’m talking to you from
the Artistic Laboratory in Manta province of Cuneo and today I want to talk
with you about how you learn to draw the first step is to learn
to make a sketch first of all we’ll define well what is
a sketch, the sketch is a fast drawing, often small, with lots of instinctive lines which serves as a study, to give to the artist an idea
of the object or of the various subjects and environments, which he will go to put in
his paintings, in his works, What is the right way to do a
sketch? First of all, look carefully at the subject, that’s true to any design, it is useless for me to draw looking at the sheet like this, like many people do, without observing the subject, that I have in front, the first thing that can
look banal, but it’s really important is to look carefully at
what we have before us the second thing is to focus on the volumes. What does it mean? it means that I don’t draw a contour, as is often done, but I design the volume, that is the fundamental form, if I am doing for
example a sketch of a face as you see me here, I won’t draw the outline, but the volume, maybe I start from the oval from the shape of the skull and
I add my jaw, then I insert all the various elements that are part of the
face: the eyes, the nose, the mouth… without drawing
the contour the outline comes later it’s a second step, first of all the volumes,
then another very important thing is simplification I’m doing a sketch, a study I’m not doing a final design,
a thing that I’ll hang in the room or that I’ll sell, I’m doing gymnastics
is a real useful gymnastics, with which you progress in a very effective manner and fast of the design, if I do a sketch and it last an hour to finish it, I didn’t make a good sketch I already did a drawing, a sketch last ten minutes, five minutes even one minute is fine other things that you must
remembering is to do many lines, because this is very important, another rule that will horrifying everyone is that the rubber is forbidden, because the rubber in doing the sketch, doesn’t
lets you move on, that is, if I have a blank sheet, I make one
line, I recognize that it’s wrong if I delete it, I’ll probably do it again, identical on a white sheet, because the white sheet is always a white sheet,
while my wrong line will help me in the comparison to fix,
so what do I do to correct, I add lines, if my line had to be inclined and it is too straight, I do a line on the side a little more inclined and I have a reference, I don’t have a blank sheet the last thing I tell you about a sketch is to not judge the sketch, it would be better to avoid this thing, to give a mental vote or with a judgment or a frustration, which comes to us from having done something not exactly satisfactory, I suggest you to take a pen and recycle paper to make the sketches, this there allows us to free ourselves, to say ok who cares this sheet it’s rubbish,
the pen isn’t so erasable I have only ten minutes, I do it in ten minutes
10 small sketches, they are not drawings they’re gymnastics I hope to be
useful I salute you, if you have
suggestions, comments, ideas on what could be my next
video, I’ll wait for them bye bye see you in the next video
